Author Fahey Was a Hardcore Alcoholic Who Found a Way to Fight the Disease

And Reach Out to Others

Tamarac, FL – Alcoholism is a disease as Australian author Tyrone Patrick Fahey makes clear.

“We can never be cured of alcoholism, but we can arrest the disease and pull it up in its tracks,” writes Fahey in an autobiography of his own trials, tragedies and ultimate triumph titled One Man’s Take on Beating Alcoholism, published by Llumina Press.

Fahey hopes his book will help others who are suffering the way he once did.

“This book was written with a desire to assist those looking to quit drinking and enjoy life to the maximum,” writes Fahey in the introduction to his book.  “In particular, it is aimed at the hardcore alcoholic who thinks he or she has a super-charged version of the disease, as I did.  This is the book I wish I had found all those years ago when I went searching for help.”

Fahey started drinking at the age of eight when he had a sip from an uncle’s can of beer.  By the time he was sixteen, he was getting drunk on a weekly basis; by twenty-one being drunk was a daily occurrence.

“I was a hardcore daily drinker whose only mission in life was to get drunk and stay drunk—the goal of any acute chronic alcoholic,” he writes.

According to Fahey, alcohol is the number one drug problem in the United States where more than fifteen million people are dependent on it.  Alcohol is involved in more than half of all driving fatalities in America, and someone is killed in an alcohol-related traffic accident in this country every 30 minutes.

Fahey tried to quit drinking many times—once succeeding for more than a year—but he always went back.  He writes, “It is one thing to stop drinking and remain sober and it is entirely another to stop drinking and begin the recovery process.”

Finally overcoming his denial that he was an alcoholic, Fahey made a plan of attack to conquer his disease. His sequence for recovery was: “verbalize, visualize, mediate, ask for the universe’s grand assistance, and give thanks.”

Fahey shares these important messages through his book; his website: www.alcoholicarmy.com; and his desire to make a difference by encouraging others with the disease to move “Forward As One” on their way to recovery.
