Prolific Author and Poet Liza Sisk

Publishes Her First Children’s Book

The Clay Birds of Jesus

With Llumina Press

Based on a Mediterranean Legend, Sisk’s Tale of Young Jesus and Young Judas

Is One of Understanding and Forgiveness

Tamarac, FL Prolific author and poet Liza Sisk has just published her first children’s book, The Clay Birds of Jesus, with Llumina Press.  The book is illustrated by Judy Bicking.  It is based on an old Mediterranean legend and tells the story of young Jesus and young Judas who are playing together carving clay birds in Nazareth.

Jesus forms his clay birds perfectly, names them, and paints them with rainbows while Judas’s birds are misshapen and have no color to them at all.  Jesus says that his birds are alive and will sing.  When Judas gets frustrated, he angrily stomps on Jesus’s birds; yet, when Jesus calls them, some of those clay birds soar into the sky and sing.

Judas is remorseful for what he has done.  Mary gently chastises Judas who apologizes to Jesus.  Jesus smiles, holds out his hand, and responds: “Truly, I forgive you, Judas.”

The prolific Sisk, who has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin, is also an award-winning poet and has published the poetry books Condominiums, Conch Shells and Consciousness and On Being Alive.  She was a finalist for the North Carolina Poetry Society’s 2005 Poet Laureate Award, and her poems have appeared in numerous literary publications including Puerto Del Sol and Hawaii Review.

Sisk currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina, and has worked as a Marketing Communications expert for General Electric, Westinghouse, and other Fortune 100 companies where she taught courses in communications skills and other subjects.  She also has edited in-house magazines and managed training courses for computer departments.  In addition, she is the author of the recently published book about technical writing in the Internet Age titled The Elements of Structure: The Step Beyond Style.
