A DAY WITHOUT YESTERDAY--FOR KIDS... AND ADULTS!

FORT LAUDERDALE, FEBRUARY 2006:  As a child, I knew nothing about the Universe. I loved seeing the stars, in all their twinkling glory, but had no idea how they came to be up there. Although the Big Bang theory was first suggested in 1927, by the Belgian priest Georges Lemaître, it wasn't until the discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation in 1965 that the Big Bang was regarded as the best theory of the origin and the evolution of the cosmos. Having said that, it's not hard to see why I still didn’t get it. However, Geeta Pati has made understanding easy.

Finny’s Voyage through the Universe recounts the events surrounding the “Big Bang,” in a manner captivating and educational to children of all ages--the exciting adventure of Finny, a curious fish, as he travels in space and time with his guide, Mr. Guru, a supercomputer. Finny witnesses the Big Bang explosion, where the very first moment of time and space was born. “A day without yesterday,” announces Mr. Guru as Finny watches with awe the Inflation, when our microscopic universe ballooned out within less than a blink of the eye. Finny sees the tiny energetic particles known as the Elementary Particles (Photons, Gluons, X-Particles, Electrons, Neutrons, and others) which make up the basic components of the universe appear on the scene. He hears the conversation and sees the activities of these energetic particles as they combine and create new particles (Protons, Neutrons, Deuterium, etc.), finally leading up to the creation of the Hydrogen and Helium atoms. Finny sees these atoms, led by Gravity, clump together and create stars and galaxies. With the assistance and explanations of Mr. Guru, Finny and young readers learn about the Big Bang and the creation of atoms, stars, and galaxies.
