Seeds
for a conversation on the reality
of human nature and behavior
“Seeds
is an attempt
to view the phenomena of life on Earth and all that is accessible from as early
a starting point as is empirically imaginable,” writes Kassabgi in the prologue
to his book. His objective is a better understanding of our reality despite what
is immeasurable and unknowable.
In Seeds, Kassagbi cites many great writers on various
topics such as war, ethics, happiness, politics, soul, religion, power,
feelings, consciousness, courage, harmony, chance, physics, and biology.
However, his book is not an anthology of what past thinkers have said about our
reality. It does add something new to the current debates led by eminent and
best-selling authors Richard Dawkins, Dinesh D’Souza, Christopher Hitchens,
Douglas Hofstadter, as well as many others.
“The goal of understanding the reality underlying human
nature and behavior is as old as the human species and continues to be a
fascinating topic,” writes Kassabgi. “But that reality has remained elusive
through the ages, mainly due to the limited knowledge we have about this world’s
faraway past.”
In Seeds, Kassabgi
offers a new framework of thought that challenges or throws a different light on
currently accepted theories. His ideas – his seeds – allow him to dig deeply
into the far past, to support one common foundation for all that exists. His
approach to a conversation is open-ended. The book is for readers who have an
interest in expanding the debate on our reality.
“Plowing has begun,” writes Kassabgi. “We can sow the seeds.
Growing will take a while… but, with the help of many minds, the harvest may
surprise us.”
