I wanted to let you know about some successes I'm
having with my marketing plan for The
Wreckless Manager.
I just received a phone call from the editor of Chain
Drug Review, a magazine for the chain drug industry that has a circulation
of 46,000. I had sent him a letter with a press release and a copy of
The Wreckless Manager
ten days ago. He had read it, said he really loved it and asked my
permission to review The Wreckless Manager
in the next edition of his magazine. Of course it only took me two seconds
to say "yes"! It hits my target audience of store, area, district and
regional managers plus a number of executives.
Also, I sent a copy to Ken Blanchard, the author of
The One Minute Manager and international
management consultant. He emailed me
several weeks ago, told me the book was full of "little gems of wisdom" that
he was going to share with his managers. Ken emails them each morning and
was going to use tips from The Wreckless
Manager in his morning messages.
Because of the book, I also have speaking engagements on management and
leadership with the sheriff's department management team in San Antonio,
Texas starting in January and running for eight months, and I also have a
planned speaking engagement with the Military Comptrollers Association in
San Antonio in February.
Since I'm retired, this book gives me something to do that I enjoy doing
i.e. marketing the book. I don't know if it will ever make it to the best
seller lists, but I am having fun with marketing it. Only time will tell
what the results will be and I'm having fun discovering new learning
experiences each day.
