Writer's Digest Competition Update

Dear Competition Update Subscribers,
It’s officially autumn—that breezy, beautiful time of year that screams for
haunted hayrides, carved pumpkins and spiced cider. But, while you’re basking in
the changing and falling leaves, don’t forget to submit your entries to several
WD contests that have deadlines fast approaching.
If you write short stories or poems, we have your perfect competition. You can
pick from the WD Popular Fiction Awards, the Writer’s Digest Short Short Story
Competition and the Writer’s Digest Poetry Awards. Don’t hesitate to enter them
all! You still have a few more months before time runs out, but don’t get caught
up in the spectacular season and forget to focus on your writing!
Plus, if you entered the 75th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition (the
deadline was June 1), sit tight because you could be contacted with some great
news soon! All contest winners will be notified no later than October 20—and a
list of winners will be featured in the December issue of Writer’s Digest!

of Writer’s Digest (which hits the stands October 10), where you'll find an
interview with the Grand-Prize Winner—plus a list of the top winners for each of
the 10 categories.
You may also purchase a copy of the 75th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing
Competition Collection sponsored by Outskirts Press. The Collection, published
in November 2006, will contain the Grand Prize and 1st Place winning manuscripts

APPROACHING CONTEST DEADLINES
WD Popular Fiction Awards
We want your best fiction in five categories: Romance, Mystery/Crime Fiction,
Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Thriller/Suspense and Horror. The Grand-Prize Winner will
receive $2,500 cash, $100 worth of Writer’s Digest Books, plus a manuscript
critique and marketing advice from a Writer’s Digest editor or advisory board
member. All winners will receive promotion in Writer’s Digest magazine.
