Article 5
FORT LAUDERDALE, June
2007: As of
today there are eighty-nine prisoners on death row throughout the
U.S., awaiting the final conclusion of their incarceration. Things
have changed quite a bit in recent years for these inmates.
Some are allowed pen pals, and are actually online, and most

chess and checker boards. Their lives have eased, although the
struggle goes on. In her new
book, Article 5, Isabelle Assante presents one such
prisoner’s story in all its dismal aspects.

endured to survive, and eventually, return from the brink.

caregiver’s workplace as well. This new phenomenon is becoming so
prevalent that some companies are actually offering geriatric
care management (GCM) benefits to their employees. Now recognized as
“The Sandwich Generation,” these individuals are caught between
raising children and caring for ailing parents. In her absorbing
book, Waiting for Wings, E. A. Davis imparts a cutting-edge wisdom
